Building connections in South East Asia through NZ government and business delegation

Beca is pleased to announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Amelia Linzey, is part of the New Zealand business delegation accompanying Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on his official visit to Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines this week, 14-20 April.

As well as the business delegation, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Simon Watts, the Minister of Climate Change and Revenue, and Paulo Garcia, New Zealand’s first Filipino Member of Parliament.

Beca’s presence in South East Asia began over 50 years ago, and since then, we have established a robust presence with more than 500 staff across four regional offices, delivering successful projects and building lasting relationships.

Amelia says she was honoured to join the Prime Minister, other business leaders and delegates on the visit, which will showcase New Zealand’s expertise and innovation in various sectors, such as digital technology, education, food and beverage, and renewable energy.

“South East Asia is a vital partner and key market for New Zealand, and for Beca. We have a long history of delivering successful projects in the region, from sustainable buildings and green infrastructure to industrial solutions. And as an employee-owned business, our people in South East Asia are integral members of the Beca family. We are committed to supporting our clients and communities to pursue their development goals,” Ms Linzey said.

Our Singapore office stands as a testament to our Smart Cities expertise. Here, we harness the power of emerging digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and comfort for building owners. Our projects in Singapore are not just about technology and innovative building design; they're about creating smarter, more liveable and energy efficient urban spaces that serve as models for cities worldwide.

In Thailand, our multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants has made meaningful strides across various markets. Our expertise spans buildings, civil structures, geotechnical, and MEPF (mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire) design services. We have delivered landmark projects such as the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the One Bangkok integrated district, and Mahanakhon Tower.

In the Philippines, we provide remote services in key sectors including food and life sciences, leisure and hospitality, commercial buildings, energy and manufacturing, and power.

“I look forward to engaging with senior government and business representatives in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, and to exploring new opportunities for collaboration and partnership. I also hope to learn from the best practices and experiences of these dynamic and diverse countries, and share some of the insights and solutions that Beca has to offer,” Ms Linzey said.

Our story in South East Asia is not just about the projects we've completed; it's about the partnerships we've forged and the innovations we've shared, between New Zealand, Australia, and the region. Together, we have the potential to drive innovation and deliver solutions that transcend borders – innovating, connecting, and thriving together.
